Loch Ness Monster first official sighting

May 2, 1933 is the first officially reported sighting of Nessy, The Loch Ness Monster, by Alex Campbell in the Inverness Courier. The claims became somewhat legitimized when George Spicer and his wife claimed to see something like a “dragon or pre-historic animal” walking around near Loch Ness a couple months later.

Although this infamous photo from 1933 has been proven a hoax, tourism by fans and investigators of Nessy continues with nearly as much enthusiasm as before.
